...but can you lie to yourself?
I think we don't grow unless we are constantly challenging what we have accepted as true. When we live our lives under the assumption that things are fact simply because we have heard them or have seen them, we live in an awfully closed-off world. When our lives are bound by should's and should not's, we begin to limit ourselves and, to put it harshly, diminish our humanity even if its just a little bit.
The world has a lot to offer, and if we spend our entire lives living through one lens -- one perspective -- we're wasting an awfully rich and beautiful world.
Actions speak louder than words, but the pen is mightier than the sword.
When you first cast out your line, there is very little purpose to drawing it back in immediately and throwing it out repeatedly. You aren't Hawkeye -- you aren't going to catch a fish by throwing a hook at a fish's mouth with extreme accuracy. So you do the next best thing: you wait.
